South Gloucestershire Parish Charter

The Charter is a framework for South Gloucestershire Council and the Town & Parish Councils (or Local Councils) to work in partnership in order to improve the wellbeing of the varied communities that make up South Gloucestershire. Through this Charter the respective councils agree to work in partnership whilst respecting each-other’s rights as separate democratic bodies.

About the forum

Members of the T & PC Forum can be Clerks and/or Councillors from any Town or Parish Council in SGC.  (Not all are Charter signatories).

The forum holds meetings 3-4 times a year and representatives from SGC or WECA attend dependent on topics being covered.  This includes Heads of Departments and senior staff for topics such as Planning, Finance, Streetcare services, Safer/Stronger and so on as required.  Presentations are added to this site after each meeting.  Members can suggest topics for future meetings.

Town & Parish Councils often have a ‘common cause’ needing discussion with South Glos Council or WECA for information, action or suggested change.  Membership of the Town & Parish Council Forum is free and Clerks & Councillors can participate. Forum meetings give the chance to look key SGC decision makers in the eye and get a response or a promise of a way forward.

If your Council hasn’t participated and you’d like to find out more please contact one of the team .
